Service Description
Topics: • Knowledge of hoisting and rigging equipment and materials. • Recognizing capabilities and limitations. • Ropes and knots. • Hoisting equipment from cranes to chainfalls. • Rigging hardware from rope clips to spreader beams. • Procedures for equipment inspection. • Maintenance and operations. Purpose: Establish safe working procedures and practices for employees involved in the rigging and transporting of materials. It will provide involved supervisors and workers with awareness of the potential hazards associated with crane and hoist operations and provide procedures to address related hazards. Learning Outcomes: After successfully completing this portion of the course, participants will understand: • Legislative Requirements. • The duties and responsibilities. • Hoisting and Rigging polices, procedures, and precautions. • Weight loads and the weights of common materials. • Fibre ropes, knots and hitches, related hardware, wire rope and slings. • Hand signal practices/protocols related to hoisting.
